Antminer S19XP {ERR:H1}– Fixing XP Bad ASIC Chips

Antminer S19XP {ERR:H1} error

With the rise of more efficient crypto miners, it’s easy to overlook older models. However, some like the Antminer S19XP are still going strong with nearly 140 TH/s of hashing power. Despite its reliability, a common issue with this unit is the XP bad ASIC chip (BM1366AL , BM1366AG)error.

This article walks through a real example of how to diagnose and repair damaged ASIC chips on a Bitmain Antminer S19XP.

🛠️ Diagnosing the Problem

The miner we received started hashing for about 1–2 minutes before showing an error related to Hashboard 1:

Antminer S19XP error H1 Error (Hashboard 1 error)

{ERR:H1} Hashboard 1 has a problem, but this is a NoPIC miner and bosminer can’t disable it individually for safety function.

This indicates a fault in Hashboard 1, which requires testing with a hashboard diagnostic tool.

🔍 Inspecting the Hashboard

After testing, we found no signal passing through the board. A closer inspection revealed that 8–9 ASIC chips were damaged. This is a typical case of XP bad ASIC chip failure.

To repair it:

  1. Place the hashboard on a hot plate at around 280–300°C.
  2. Carefully remove the damaged ASIC chips.
  3. After removal, clean the board surface thoroughly to ensure proper contact for new components.

Thankfully, in this case, there were no issues with capacitors or other components—only the ASIC chips needed replacement.

🔧 Replacing the ASIC Chips

Sometimes, identifying a bad chip is simple. But there are cases where damaged chips don’t show visible signs, as seen in the image below. For hard-to-detect damage, use a microscope to check for tiny cracks or solder defects.

Once the damaged chips are removed:

  • Take working ASIC chips
  • Place them carefully in the correct positions on the board
  • Ensure solder points are clean and level

We replaced 8 ASIC chips on this Antminer S19XP, and after testing, the miner was back to hashing properly.

✅ Final Thoughts

The Antminer S19XP is still a powerful and reliable miner, but like any hardware, it’s prone to wear over time—especially when it comes to the XP ASIC chips. If your unit shows errors such as {ERR:H1}  or no signal, it’s a strong sign that you may be dealing with XP bad ASIC chips.

While repairing Antminer S19XP ASIC chips, it’s also possible to accidentally damage the wire on the hashboard. If the board’s wiring is damaged and needs repair, be sure to check out our related article on Antminer wire repair.

A proper repair with clean soldering and precise component placement can restore your Bitmain Antminer to full working condition.
